San Francisco Trip

Since I’m moving back down to Southern California at the end of September, I’ve been trying to meet up with Nikki as much as I can since I won’t see her as much anymore. We decided to head to San Francisco and check out Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Aquarium of The Bay. She’s been in the Bay Area for many years and I’ve been here for 7 years and we both had never done Ripley’s and she had never done the aquarium.

We met at my house and then headed to Jack London Square to catch the ferry to San Francisco. I hate driving to San Francisco because of the hills and all the one way streets, plus the ferry is pretty fun. We got there and started walking to Ripley’s but then decided to get boba first (of course!). We finally got to Ripley’s and it was pretty cool and interesting.

Trip to San Francisco!

After that, we decided to head to Pier 39 to check out the aquarium. It was fun to walk around and look at all the fish and sea creatures they had there. For dinner, we both were craving some sort of seafood so we decided to go to Pier Market. We shared calamari and we both got a clam chowder bread bowl and salad. It was super fun hanging out with her and the kiddos.

We were calling this trip part of our “Bay Area Bucket List” but then we couldn’t really think of anything else to add to it. Have you been to the Bay Area? What is something you enjoyed doing?

New Name, New Adventure

So I decided to change blog names. Why? Well mostly because of all the change that has happened in my life this past year and a half and all the changes that are to come in the next few years. If you are new to my blog, I’ll fill you in on what’s happened this past year and a half.

Last April (2014), my dad passed away from a heart attack. It was totally unexpected as he wasn’t sick or anything. He was very independent and was still doing everything for himself. He was 67. Then on August 10 of this year, my mom passed away. Her passing was a lot different than my dad’s. She was admitted to the hospital on July 21 and after a lot of ups and downs, she finally was reunited with my dad. There were so many times during her stay that I thought she was going to make it, but unfortunately her body just rejected dialysis and without dialysis, the doctor said she would have only lived for a week. However, she was on blood pressure medicine because her BP was too low. The doctor said that if we stopped the medicine, she would pass quickly and pain free. That morning she was alert and awake and expressed to me her wishes, which were to be with my dad. As hard as it was for me to hear this and as selfish as I wanted to be, ultimately it was her decision to make and I’m so grateful that she took that burden off of me. By that night, all the family was there and we stopped the medicine at 10:00PM. However, at around 3PM they gave her a morphine drip that had made her sleepy so she wasn’t awake. The last time she had talked was at 4PM. At 10:21PM, she passed. It was a day that I will never forget but I’m so glad family was able to be there.

Mom and Dad

My mom and I were planning to move back down to SoCal on August 21, well with everything that had happened, that obviously was put on hold. After she passed, I took a trip down to SoCal to be with friends and family and decided that I was going to move back down to SoCal. That’s where I’m originally from and that’s where most of my friends and family are. I chose a place and am scheduled for a move in day of October 3.

So with all that change, I felt a new blog name was also a fresh start… kind of like getting a new apartment. This blog will document my new adventure of moving down to SoCal, decorating my apartment, and learning how to live without my parents.

Hi There!

I'm Christina and I'm a twenty something California girl. After a rough past couple of years, I'm starting to realize how short life truly is. This blog will be my story on how I am starting to realize that and that life is just one big adventure! I'm also in the process of adopting through foster care! ...more?
