LASIK Update After One Month

LASIK Update After One Month

I had LASIK done on February 16 and wanted to post a one month update to let you all know how I’m progressing. When I last posted, I talked about the day of surgery and the day after and now I’m one month post LASIK. The days after my surgery was a bit hard because my eyes were so different each day or at different times of the day. I was having a constant headache and all I wanted to do was sleep. I was worried that it was going to stay this way, but after about 4 days the headaches went away and I was able to return my daily activities.

During my two week check up, I was still seeing 20/20 which is amazing. Now, at one month out I am enjoying my life glasses free. My vision is still not as sharp as I’d like it to be and the doctor said it could take up to three months. However, if at three months it’s still not as sharp, I’d opt to get an enhancement done because I want my vision to be clear and sharp. The doctor told me that I’d more than likely need to get an enhancement done before I even had the first surgery so it’s not a surprise. My prescription was -7.50 which is pretty bad for someone my age and so I appreciate him telling me upfront.

Do I regret having LASIK? Absolutely not! If someone asked me today if I would recommend it, I would definitely say yes! Even though I had headaches the first few days and my vision is still not as sharp as I’d like it to be, I can see without glasses for the first time since I was in the 3rd grade! It’s amazing waking up and not having to put on glasses. There are so many things that I enjoy now that I don’t wear glasses.

Have you had LASIK done or ever considered it?

Murad Rapid Lightening 90-Day Kit Review

Murad Rapid Lightening 90-Day Kit Review

Every month I go to get a massage at Massage Envy and I’ve seen the Murad products displayed there but I’ve never gotten a facial there so when I was given the opportunity to review it, I was beyond thrilled! I received the Rapid Lightening 90-Day Kit and started using it once I got it.

Murad was founded by board-certified dermatologist, trained pharmacist and pioneer of the Inclusive Health movement, Dr. Howard Murad, and is dedicated to making beautiful, healthy skin attainable for everyone.

This Rapid Lightening Regimen has a full 90-day supply to treat skin discoloration from the 4 major causes of hyperpigmentation: sun, genetics, hormones, and inflammation. Each product in the 90-Day Rapid Lightening Regimen treats hyperpigmentation at the source so you can start seeing brighter-looking, more even skin tone in as little as 7 days.

The Vitamin-C rich Essential-C Cleanser removes skin-dulling impurities to renew skin’s radiance. The Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum contains 2% Hydroquinone which lightens dark spots and skin discoloration. Our Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++, rich in Vitamin-C and antioxidants, revitalizes and protects your skin from further damage.

Rapid Lightening 90-Day Kit

The Rapid Lightening 90-Day Kit has a simple 3 step process.

Step 1 – Essential-C Cleanser Massage a small amount over dampened face and neck. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. For optimal results, follow with Essential-C Toner and Essential-C Daily Renewal Complex during the day.

Step 2 – Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum Massage evenly over clean face, neck and chest.

Step 3 – Essential-C Day Moisture Every day after cleansing and toning, massage evenly over face, neck and chest. For optimal results, first apply an Environmental Shield treatment.

Simple and easy to use. I’ve definitely enjoyed using the products and will continue to use them after I run out. I’m even considering going in for a facial at Massage Envy now!

Home Inspection & Home Study for Adoption

Home Inspection & Home Study for Adoption

I’m currently almost at the end of my process with getting certified for foster care and eventually adoption. I just had my home inspection and home study done. The person doing my home inspection and home study said he has never had one go this fast. I guess it’s a little easier for me because my family is pretty small and my house is pretty new so not much to fix. After my first one, the only things I needed to get were a baby gate, emergency ladder, and a medicine box. I got all that and he came for the second and final one on Thursday and said I should be certified with their agency by the end of this month.

Getting certified with the agency is just the first step. After they write their home study and I get certified with them, they then send it off to the county for me to get certified with them and that’s where the process is kind of at a standstill. It can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months for them to approve it and send it back. However, once all that is done, then I’m officially certified everywhere and can begin fostering and hopefully get a placement where the child is up for adoption.

I know it’s not likely that my first placement will be up for adoption and everyone asks me “how can you do that?” or “won’t it be hard to not get attached?” and my answer to those questions are: yes, it’s going to be hard but it’s also going to be very rewarding to know that I helped a child even if it was short term. In the field I work in (childcare for those who don’t know), I’ve been able to see children start at the daycare as 6 week olds and leave our daycare at age 3. It was amazing seeing these children grow and blossom and I did get attached but at the end of the day, they go home to their parents. In some ways, I feel like that has prepped me for what’s to come.

The person doing my home study also told me that I should do memory books for the children. They know I want an infant so documenting their journey while they are with me is important, even if it’s short term. If you think about it, most of us have baby photos and know where we came from but the children in foster care don’t always know that. If they are bounced from house to house in the first few years of their life, who is taking baby photos and saving it for them? So I think it’s a great idea that he wants me to do that. He said it didn’t need to be anything fancy and that I can just put it in a binder but being the crafty person I am, I’ll probably go all out and make a cute mini scrapbook for them.

As prepared as I am for the process to start, I still don’t know how it’s going to feel until I get my first placement. I hope that my first placement will be the adoption placement, but no one can predict that. I just know that while the child is in my care, whether it’s short term or is the child I’ll adopt, the child will be in a safe, loving home and be cared for immensely.
